Rats Tail Grass Field Day

Giant Rats Tail Grass (GRT) is one of Queensland’s most invasive pasture weeds, reducing productivity and resilience across grazing lands. Managing it effectively requires the right knowledge, tools, and timing.

This free Field Day will bring together leading scientists, agronomists, and industry experts to share the latest research, control strategies, and on-ground demonstrations. You’ll gain practical skills and insights to better manage GRT on your property and protect the productivity of your land.

In addition to presentations, there will be a series of live field demonstrations. These will showcase GRT identification using live plant examples, drone operations for weed control, herbicide calibration techniques, and practical equipment use, including wick wipers, quick spray units, and hand spray tools. With these demonstrations, attendees will see first-hand the technology and methods available to manage GRT more effectively.

This event is free to attend, but registration is essential. To secure your place, call 1300 307 800 or visit gympie.qld.gov.au/GRTfieldday.

The GRT Field Day is delivered in partnership with Gympie Regional Council and the Department of Primary Industries, with support from the Queensland Government. Together, we are working to equip landholders with the knowledge and resources they need to manage invasive species and support productive, resilient pastures.
