Property Fire Management Planning

Primary Producer Workshop

Healthy Land & Water, in partnership with government and local stakeholders, is hosting a series of free Property Fire Management Planning workshops this September to help primary producers strengthen their land’s resilience to bushfire.

The workshops will run from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM across three locations:

  • Monto on Monday 15 September 2025

  • Gayndah on Tuesday 16 September 2025

  • Durong on Wednesday 17 September 2025

Bushfires are a natural part of the Australian landscape, but with the right planning, landholders can reduce risks, safeguard assets, and improve long-term land productivity. These workshops are designed to give primary producers the tools and confidence to develop a tailored fire management plan specific to their property.

Guided by an expert fire ecologist, participants will explore fire ecology and behaviour, practical fire management strategies, and approaches to asset protection and bushfire mitigation. A key feature of the workshop is the opportunity to work on a large-scale map of your own property, allowing you to create a fire management plan that reflects your unique land use, values, and risks.

These interactive and practical sessions are not only about fire risk reduction but also about building stronger, more resilient landscapes. A well-prepared fire management plan supports biodiversity, enhances land productivity, and provides peace of mind for landholders and their communities.

The workshops are free to attend, but places are limited and registration is essential by 1 September 2025. To secure your spot, visit hlw.org.au/events. For further information, please contact Hannah at hannah.e@hlw.org.au.

These workshops are proudly supported by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
