Field day for Macadamia nut and tree crop industry

Come along to a free field day at one of BMRG’s climate smart demonstration Macadamia Nut Farms – Norbrook in Bucca and hear from soil experts and advisors on how to improve soil organic carbon and increase natural capital.

Norbrook is a 514 hectare working Macadamia Nut Farm on the Kolan River that runs a soil carbon project and is currently exploring other natural capital investment opportunities.

This is your chance to see natural capital projects in action and speak with agronomists and industry on how to implement and measure real increases in soil carbon on your farm. M-Nut will share their experience on their soil carbon project and natural capital roadmap.

Our speakers:

Theunis Smit, Horticulture Agronomist, discusses opportunities for soil carbon increases in the tree crop industry. With a Ph.D. in Horticulture, an M.Sc. in Agronomy, and a B.Sc. in Plant and Soil Science, Theunis blends scientific knowledge with practical applications in agriculture. His expertise includes tree crops, focusing on plant physiology and irrigation and soil health.

Christophe Bur, Regen Farmers Mutual, breaks down Soil Carbon ACCU projects in horticulture sector. Christophe is a primary producer in Queensland and also an adviser to the industry. His areas of expertise cover carbon farming and business advice for the agricultural industry. He is a registered consultant with Climate Active, an accredited expert with Accounting for Nature, and a Carbon Farming Approved Adviser in Queensland.
