Join BMRG for a practical cool burning workshop designed to support freehold landholders and producers managing prime agricultural and grazing land across the Burnett Mary region.
The Burnett Mary Cool Burn Squad is working alongside landholders to help protect 50,000 hectares of productive land from the growing risk of bushfire. By combining landholder knowledge, Indigenous-led cool burning practices and proven fire science, the program supports safer, more achievable fire management that cares for country, culture and livelihoods.
Participants will learn what cool burning is, why it matters for country and productive farmland, and how strategic fuel management can reduce wildfire risk. The workshop will cover burn planning, methodology, timing, vegetation, fuel loads, seasonal conditions, asset protection and priority areas.
This event is ideal for landholders, producers and anyone interested in building confidence and capability in cool burn practices.
