Rural landholders are invited to attend the Booubyjan Priority Species Workshop, a free community event designed to provide practical advice on identifying and managing invasive weeds and pest animals that threaten agricultural productivity and environmental health.

Hosted by Gympie Regional Council, the workshop will be held on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at the Booubyjan Community Hall, bringing together local landholders to learn effective management techniques and explore the support available for managing priority species on their properties.

Participants will gain practical knowledge on identifying and controlling a range of invasive weed species, including honey locust, rubber vine, giant rat's tail grass and parthenium. The workshop will also cover the management of common pest animals such as wild dogs, foxes, feral pigs, feral deer and rabbits, providing information on how Council can assist landholders with coordinated management programs.

A highlight of the event will be a hands-on feral pig trapping demonstration, giving attendees the opportunity to see practical control techniques in action and discuss effective pest management strategies with experienced officers.
