Natural capital – your greatest asset

Hear from Lessa Kelly, BMRG’s Natural Capital Program Manager about our efforts to help farmers benchmark natural assets on their farms and understand emerging environmental markets such as carbon and biodiversity.

Growing back better – post-flood recovery

Saba Sinai, an Agriculture Lecturer from CQUniversity, will share research findings from interviews with producers affected by the 2022 floods. Engage in discussions and learn from local producers about their proactive planning for future extreme events.

Pasture & weed identification – productive or challenging species

Renowned expert Damien O’Sullivan will offer insights into pasture and species management with livestock. Bring a sample of grasses or other species you are unsure of (clear photos or a sample sealed without seed, please). Participate in an afternoon field walk to better understand your soils, landscape, and livestock needs.

Soil Health – Unpacking the importance of the livestock beneath your feet

BMRG’s Microbiologist Rachel Cavallo will provide an overview on the importance of optimum soil health, focussing on microbial activity, fungi and biology. This session will explore the benefits of composting, bio applications and reducing inputs to support your bottom line.

Feral pig management

Darren Pratt, a professional feral pig management consultant, will showcase the latest technology, including drone services and a live demonstration.

Gympie Regional Council

Representatives will address biosecurity, disaster management, and resources available to landholders.
