Planting Bulberin Nut (Macadamia jansenii)trees at Thornhill Station
Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) staff recently had the privilege of joining Associate Professor, Dr Alison Shapcott from the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) for the planting of Bulberin Nut (Macadamia jansenii) trees at Thornhill Station. This initiative, led by Dr Shapcott, is a collaborative effort that includes the Gidarjil Rangers and Tondoon Botanic Gardens, and is part of a broader conservation endeavor that has been ongoing for over a decade.
The Recovery and Resilience of the Bulberin Nut Project received grant funding from the Australian Government’s Saving Native Species Program. BMRG is proud to contribute to this significant conservation project, which seeks to build upon the legacy of conservation efforts of UniSC, Gidarjil Development Corporation, and Tondoon Botanic Gardens, ensuring the continued protection of this rare species.
