Disaster Preparedness Workshop

A Disaster Preparedness Workshop for primary producers was held in Maryborough recently, attended by more than 50 people.

Topics discussed included Farm Business Resilience Plans; applying for drought preparedness funding; and one-on-one flood management planning.

A special guest was Warren Davies, the Unbreakable Farmer.

There is still scope for eligible landholders to receive support from Industry Recovery and Resilience officers in south-east Queensland.

Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) and the Queensland Farmers Federation are delivering the program, which is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

BMRG’s officers have worked with primary producers to develop 51 flood management plans so far with 20 more in progress.

Flood management plans help landholders with water management and to reduce the impact of future high rainfall events.
