Flood Recovery Programs
On-Farm Productivity and Riparian Recovery Program
The on-farm and riparian flood recovery program, formally launched by the Queensland government in May 2013 in Bundaberg, concluded on June 30 2015.
The program was facilitated by BMRG through funding jointly provided by the Queensland and Australian governments to assist landholders in stipulated priority areas (primarily the North Burnett and Lower Burnett River) within the region to return to productivity and address ways in which to mitigate damage and build resilience into the region's farming systems.
The program has generated a number of successful outcomes both for landholders and producers and the riparian and flood plain areas of the region's major rivers and streams.
BMRG has developed strong and enduring partnerships throughout the program and now have a model for other regions that forms a basis for addressing future damage that may arise through extremes in weather.
