Maintaining Coastal Environments

The intersection of subtropical and tropical zones in the Burnett Mary region has resulted in some of the highest biodiversity in Australia and our coastal areas are home to a wide variety of ecological communities and many rare and threatened species, both resident and migratory.

Continuing expansion and development along the coast is increasing pressure on the coastal environment.  The focus of the Maintaining Coastal Environments program is to preserve, manage and enhance coastal diversity through the delivery of support and incentives to land managers to allow the implementation of strategic threat management across multiple tenures.
