Breaking new ground is the aim of Earthtrade

Breaking new ground is the aim of Earthtrade - a fresh and innovative solution to environmental impacts, set to be launched in Bundaberg on World Environment Day.

In what is being touted as a key to past, present and future solutions to an array of environmental challenges in Queensland, the new environmental brokerage service aptly dubbed Earthtrade, has been born to meet these challenges and provide a ‘one stop shop’ for corporations, community groups and individuals to solve the range of environmental issues.

Developed by Queensland’s own Burnett Mary Regional Group, Earthtrade is an innovative service designed to provide environmental management solutions for both the corporate and community sectors.

According to BMRG’s Chairman, Russell Stewart, the company was destined to emerge in answer to the growing concern for the environment by the community and the corporate sector who are requesting innovative environmental solutions to offset impacts from human development across the world.

“As a wholly owned subsidiary and the commercial arm of the Burnett Mary Regional Group, Earthtrade will provide an essential and practical method of assessing and offsetting activities which have an impact on the recovery and maintenance of the environment across the country,” Mr Stewart said.

As an environmental broker, Earthtrade will act as an agent between the client or investor and the environmental outcome in order to balance the activities of commercial ventures, the community and the needs of the environment.

“Earthtrade’s task is to find a unique, tailor-made solution to suit the client’s environmental requirement, then to provide a streamlined approach to access and delivery of a range of environmental products and services specifically for the project in mind,” Mr Stewart said.

“We are proud to be able to offer this significant service in such a practical and accessible way.”

The services available to corporate and community members under Earthtrade’s Offsets Program include vegetation and carbon offsets, and koala and marine offsets as required by law.

Earthtrade’s ecovery program deals with voluntary participation in the alleviation of a group’s ‘unique environmental footprint’. Ecovery will deliver unique solutions to challenges including revegetation, regeneration and rehabilitation projects, voluntary carbon offsets and on-ground practical environmental projects, whilst offering a range of Technical Services also supporting the offsets and ecovery programs.

Earthtrade’s official launch will be held during the World Environment Day celebrations at the PCYC grounds, on the corner of Maryborough and Walker Streets, Bundaberg, on 1 June from 12:30pm.

The event’s keynote speaker, Fiona Waterhouse of the Financial Energy Exchange (FEX) will also provide an insight into the growing marketplace for environmental offsets in the main auditorium.
