Staff Profile

Derani Sullivan
Regional Liaison Officer

Growing up on the coast of Western Australia fostered my love of nature and the environment.  I therefore proceeded to obtain a Bachelor of Science (Conservation Biology) from Murdoch University, which I completed in 2004.

I am now working as a  Regional Liaison Officer in the Burnett East region, based out of the Bundaberg office.  In this role I play an active part in assisting community and industry groups with funding applications and enquiries, as well as working with our proponents on the many NRM projects that are currently occurring in the Burnett East.  An exciting part of my role is as the project officer for a water quality monitoring project which was established by the BMRG last year, of which I take water quality samples from Splitters Creek, Granite Creek and Baffle Creek.  I love getting out in the field and seeing this unique environment we live in, and hope that my efforts will contribute to ensuring a sustainable future for the region!

Mark Casswell
Program Manager

My working life has been diverse, from Pig farming to Surveying, bridge reconstruction to Park management.  I have studied Environmental Horticulture at the Melbourne University where I focused on applied ecology and wetlands.

I have recently moved to Childers for a tree change after having the sea change in Hervey Bay for 10 years.

At the Burnett Mary Regional Group I am responsible for the day to day management of the Natural Resources Team including the 6 action programs of Biodiversity, Water Quality and Equitable Use, Coastal and Marine, Sustainable Use, Community Capacity and partnerships, and Weeds/Pest management.  I am also responsible for the Project Management Team and the Information Management Team.
