Our Lifestyle and People Resources are the most critical asset. It is through
the community, who enjoy the lifestyle that our natural resources provide, that
a shift to sustainability can be achieved. Complex institutional arrangements
and a lack of capacity to change threaten all assets. To preserve our assets
for this and future generations, managing the impact we have on our resources
in paramount.
The principle of balancing social, economic and environmental condition is supported
by a range of literature. However eight themes are commonly identified as community
characteristics that support sustainability.
