Natural Resource Management Business & Indigenous Employment Forum
April 14th and 15th 2011 - Maryborough
The second NRM Business an Indigenous Employment Forum is being held at the Maryborough
Town Hall.
March 24th and 25th 2010 – Maryborough
This forum was developed to bring together the many stakeholders in the NRM employment
and business arena to provide Indigenous individuals, groups and organisations
with an opportunity to identify and discuss contracting needs, indigenous NRM
recruitment challenges, opportunities for employers and employees, training needs
and business management issues.
The forum also delivered a Basic Business and Operational Reference Manual specifically developed for indigenous NRM groups or individuals interested in
running their own successful NRM commercial contracting businesses.
Held over two days, the forum was both challenging and rewarding. This was the
first time a Forum like this has been held in the region, with a range of stakeholders
discussing issues and solutions for long term Indigenous employment in NRM. Major
outcomes of the forum included:
- Networking opportunities
- Identification of impediments to long term employment
- Identification of organizations, policies or individuals already addressing some
of these impediments
- Identification of some innovative solutions to some of these impediments
- The instigation of an email group, to tackle some of the key outcomes or identified
actions required to move forward.
This webpage will showcase some of the talks held that day, and will have downloadable
items that came out of the day, and will be available to update items that come
out of future work. If you were unable to attend the forum, but are interested
in being involved in the email group, please contact …
