Coastal Water Quality Alliance
What is the Coastal Water Quality Alliance?

The Coastal Water Quality Alliance was originally established through a partnership
between Wide Bay Water and the Burnett Mary Regional Group
The Alliance is a group of independant community based organisations who monitor
and restore the natural environment in a diverse number of ways.
This membership is comprised of groups specialised in their local region's unique
catchment biodiversity and also includes many people who are expert in their field
of interest in their own right.
The strength of the Alliance comes from its members, their willingness to share
their time and resources, and their amazing desire to do good for their natural
world.
What does the Coastal Water Quality Alliance do?

The Alliance facilitates the sharing of resources, knowledge and expertise amongst
member organisations across the catchment. The Alliance acts to support a range
of coastal water quality issues and activities found within the range of the Burnett Mary region.
Alliance Projects
The Queensland Wetland Programme (QWP) has developed and implemented several projects to increase the capacity
of
Queensland
to monitor wetlands. As a result of these projects,
Queensland
will be able to monitor and report on wetland extent, condition and risk.

This project is specifically tasked with trialling and improving the ‘framework
for assessing the health of, and risk to, Queensland’s lacustrine (lake) and palustrine
(swamp) wetlands’ developed through the QWP.
CWQA members will assist in undertaking crucial onground monitoring to collect
data on condition and risk of different wetland sites within the Burnett Mary to
inform this project.
