Trailer takes message on the road

A new trailer has been launched to provide information about Natural Resource Management to residents in the Burnett region.

Using funds from the Burnett Mary Regional Group, the $30,000 trailer is an initiative of the North Burnett and Bundaberg Regional Councils.

It contains leaflets and information pamphlets about natural resource management and will tour
agricultural shows, fair days and other community events throughout the region.

Chief Executive Officer of the Burnett Mary Regional Group, David Brown, said it was stocked up on fact sheets on weeds, biodiversity, natural resources management practices and information from the state government.

"It stores everything needed for a full display, it's a one-stop shop."

Mr Brown said a primary function of the trailer would be to educate landowners and growers about pest animals.

"It has everything in one place so it's a real time saver when Council staff want to go to events," he said.

As well as plenty of printed information, the trailer also holds a small television so groups can watch DVDs, and a marquee which goes alongside the trailer so people can view the displays in comfort.

The trailer was launched at the recent Healthy Habitat Wildlife workshops at Paradise Dam, with representatives from both councils and the Burnett Mary Regional Group to inspect the plentiful information on offer.

"It makes the information so much more accessible, and it's more thorough," Mr Brown said.
