BETTER CATCHMENTS
Better Catchments is an initiative of the Burnett Mary Regional Group funded
by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Caring for our Country
Program.
The Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) invites submissions from groups for the
implementation of the Better Catchments program.
There are two components within Better Catchments that are eligible for applications:
- Management of incentives program to landholders to meet desired Better Catchments
outcomes
- Provision of engagement, extension and support services to assist BMRG in the
roll out of a landholder incentives program (i.e. provision of ‘field officers’)
Applications may be submitted for either or both components.
Applications will be assessed according to the following criteria:

Successful delivery of previous BMRG funded projects

Capacity to achieve BMRG Milestones

Demonstrated Experience in extension and engagement

Experience in strategic program and plan development

Track record of timely and accurate administration, reporting, and invoicing
systems

Value for money/affordability
Incentive Program Criteria

Immediate capacity to initiate incentive rollout

Successful delivery of previous BMRG funded projects

Demonstrated experience in extension and engagement

Track record of accurate and timely administration, reporting, and invoicing
systems
Statements of Capability which have been submitted to BMRG will be referred to
when assessing applications in reference to the above selection criteria.
Applicants are encouraged to partner with appropriate organisations (such as
Regional Councils), to enhance and expand the scheduled project outcomes.
The project area for both components is within the following Subcatchments:
Within the Burnett Basin: Auburn, Barambah, Barker, Baywulla, Boonara, Boyne,
Cadarga, Lower Burnett above Paradise Dam, Nogo, Reid, St John’s, Stuart, Three
Moon, Upper Burnett.
Within the Mary Basin: Glastonbury, Kandanga, Lower Mary, Tinana, Upper Mary,
Wide Bay, Yabba.
Applications must be on the appropriate Activity Detail and submitted electronically
by 5pm Friday the 19th of September 2008.
Applications are to be emailed to: admin@bmrg.org.au with the subject title “Better
Catchments”. Ideally support documentation will also be submitted electronically, however
if this is not possible they must be marked clearly with the applicant’s name
and posted to:
